Erica Ayala New York-based sportswriter, broadcaster, and podcaster joins #hearher sports to talk about the current quickly changing situation in women’s professional hockey.

Erica writes covers WNBA for The Athletic, has contributed women’s sports coverage to ESPNW, The Guardian, The Hockey News, Think Progress, WBAI Sports Qualified, and is a ringside reporter for the National Women’s Hockey League.

Erica has insider’s perspective and has talked to players recently and over the years. As she says, emotions are hot. Stay tuned for reasons for that and for Erica’s vision of a long-term ideal.

Rebecca Ross climber, mountaineer, photographer, adventure seeker. Rebecca recently won the McNeill Nott award, which she will use for an expedition in Mongolia in 2020. In Spring 2019 she will climb two peaks in the Republic of Georgia. In 2018 she lead a grant funded expedition to Pico de Orizaba in Mexico. Those are just a few of the climbs she’s done in the past few years since starting the sport in 2017. We talk climbing, safety, fear, lack of solid goals, training, diversity, altitude, photography, adventure, and gear for shorter people. Naya Tapper, rugby superstar, top try scorer for the USA Women's Eagles Sevens team began rugby career at UNC in 2012. In 2016 earned spot on USA Women's Eagles. She’s now training for the 2020 Olympics at the Olympic Training Center with her teammates. Because opportunities rugby brought her, Naya works to grow the sport for women and youth.
